Yeah, it takes like 30 episodes more or less until it starts to get good imo and makes you wanna watch more.

Edit: It also depends on what you like, they made it all around gods there are plenty of references to biblical stuff and its pretty interesting to watch.

Oh well in my case i can't watch the english or spanish versions at all i got used to the japanese voices already (they also look much more synchronized to the characters animations while talking). Seriously its not like dialogues matter that much visuals are like 80% of the flavour at least to me, you're really losing big quality stuff if you aren't watching above 40... I'm not a weabo btw i actually dislike all that anime and manga autism, dragon ball and perhaps death note are my only 2 exceptions.

I hate it, can't get into it. It all ends at the end of the Cell saga in my head canon.

All opinions are respectable, out of curiosity tho why is it that you dislike it?

Btw cell saga was filler and imo perhaps the worst saga they made on DB only thing that was really good was animation which was superb.

The show overall got a more childish tone and animation after the Cell Saga. I have only seen some youtube clips but from the looks of it, it hasn't stopped. The animation makes everyone look 100 pounds, their eyes bigger than a Tarsier, and once again all characters that aren't Kakarot and Verginia fall into power level irrelevance. Toriyama digged himself into a hole with the whole super saiyan god thing, the power gap just becomes too big and you can't shorten it unless you make character's power levels inconsistent.
They also dropped a very important aspect of the show, which came from Dragon Ball, that being that the fighting used to be more about techniques and strategy than just straight up "i'm more powerful, i win" where characters pull power ups out of their ass to beat villains.

It had it's fair share of good moments, i remember how awesome it was when i saw Vegeta turn super saiyan for the first time.

I agree its more like godly heros more close to marvel / dc tier than to original DB, show has simply evolved or changed into something different which you may or may not like. Animation is really good in latest episodes theyre less bulky but they still look better than a Connor Tapper, DB has always been childish in some way or another super is not different its a mix of childish and "serious" scripts.

Show is good overall imo not the fucking best but if you like DB i really don't see why you wouldn't watch this, also i repeat it it gets BETTER once you get into it as first episodes are childish filler.

I also ended the series at Cell Saga as far as I'm concerned. Up to that point it actually made sense to me. The spirit bomb on Namek, going super sayain, etc. After Cell saga every arc became a complete rehash of everything that already happened. For example, ANOTHER level of Super Saiyan... making an EVEN BIGGER Spirit bomb. They should've just passed on the torch to Gohan at the end of Cell Saga. I love Goku as much as anyone, but the constant repeating/irrelvance of ever other character is far too tiring to keep up with.

Cell Saga represented a perfect ending point for the story of Dragonball with the passing of the torch from Goku to Gohan. Gohan having a level higher than ssj made sense as they'd been hinting at his hidden power the entire series. To keep going after that was beating the dead horse. Toriyama wanted to end it at the cell saga, but Toei saw dollar signs and pushed him to keep going.

If other people enjoyed the buu saga, or gt, or super, that's fine. But for me, in my headcanon it ended with Cell.

Fair points, cell saga was good don't get me wrong its just that its my less favorite. I'm not even counting GT which i've only seen it 1 time and it was enough for me.

    Frieza>Cell any day btw.

The series seemed to have a natural with the Frieza saga. The Cell saga brought Gohan around to completion, but clearly a lot of it was forced to be, like there suddenly being androids considerably stronger than the tyrant of the galaxy.

To my understanding, there is now a lot of focus on techniques. Power levels are more inconsistent as a consequence so that having raw power doesn't allow you to blow through techniques. Which still happens but later DBZ was comparatively less reliant on techniques.

Yes thats why base goku can fight toe to toe with an amateur ssj2 in Super, goku is experienced fighter regardless of his power lvl so his techniques spectrum is vast.

DB was ment to end with the Frieza saga which is pretty clear by the dialogues of Vegeta by the end of that saga. Cell was forced by toei.

That's because the series was actually well thought by Toriyama until the Frieza saga, it was supposed to end there. It tied up the character arcs quite nicely and
Saiyan and Freezy pop saga had this sense of brutality that could not be replicated much in Cell/Buu saga because Toriyama just had to keep the heros alive in some way or another (possibly due to studio pressure), something he did not feel compelled to do in what was his original idea for the direction of the series.
Just count the brutal moments and how often they happened before:
-Goku, the hero of the series and who we had been following since DB and watched his growth, gets knocked down easily by his alien brother who instantly asserts how threatening he is and kidnaps gohan.
-Piccolo loses an arm while fighting Raditz and Goku gets killed by sacrificing himself. Take into account this all happens within the first five episodes.
-Piccolo forcefully takes Gohan as his disciple and trains him by throwing him into the wilderness and getting chased by 10 feet tall dinosaurs. So how brutal was the egyptian cat's slave godly training of Goku and Vegeta?
-Yamcha, who we've long been following since Dragon Ball, gets killed by a low-ranking minion.
-Tien loses his arm fighting Nappa.
-Chiaotzu blows himself up in an attempt to kill Nappa and save his friend, managing to do absolutely no damage at all.
-Tien dies from exhaustion trying to avenge his lost friend with one final beam, again managing to barely hurt Nappa.
-Piccolo sacrifices himself to save Gohan, finally showing his development as a character and managing to have a meaningful relationship with one of the main characters.
-Goku and Vegeta engage in what is arguably one of the best fights in the whole series where multiple techniques are used and the tables are repeatedly turned, just compare this fight to the generic SS2 Goku vs SS2 Majin Vegeta in buu saga.

That's only the Saiyan Saga, which i consider by far the best. In Namek Saga, the trend continues and it's too long to list them all, Krillin cuts off Frieza's tail and he gets himself destroyed in one of the most helpless deaths in all of the series.

Kim Jong Gracia may have a point in Cell having a cool concept, he mixes not only the genes and abitilies (severely underutilized) of the different warriors, he also mixes their different personality traits which made him a somewhat unpredictable villain in terms of what he was going to do. He is also vastly superior to Buu. However, Frieza is the undisputed best villain in DBZ by far, he has the most developed backstory and destructive acts (Destroys planet Vegeta, kills both goku's and vegeta's fathers, enslaved an entire race, kills a bunch of his minions, kills a bunch of nameks, kills krillin, kills vegeta). The amount of sadism and terror in other characters his presence commanded has no rival in all of DBZ. He truly feels like the final villain.

Like i said, i haven't really watched Super, so maybe you could explain how this is actually shown
    in Super.

The animation if just off-putting and gives me no hope that Toriyama has changed the tone of the series. Let's look at some of the designs:

An underfed cat is the god of destruction.

A fashion designer who is supposedly twice as powerful as the "god of destruction".

Look at the gods of destruction:
We got a pink elephant, Jerry from Tom & Jerry all grown up, two cats (one of them anorexic and the other overweight), a steam-powered robot, a walking goatee beard, a fusion between Tails and Wile E. Coyote, Jeff Goldblum wearing his makeup from The Fly, a literal fucking clown, an out of shape far-past-his-prime viking, a murloc and CLEOPATRA.

They even blue-washed Frieza and introduced him as a "new villain". Hats off for making him look more asian however.

What the fuck is this shit? This is probably how EagleMan looks IRL.

Well thats a pretty common thing on animes to see fucking weird designs. On the design of new frieza its because he is from a paralel universe (universe 6) which is twin to gokus universe so theres counterparts on each side.
