Alright, so I'm going to be hosting an EU4 MP game. We've already started but I wanted to talk about the set up here. I'm going to be doing this ad-hoc -- I'll try to find a time a couple of times a week to play and everyone online at that time will be invited to get on and play. Every time we play, I'll continue using the same save file regardless of who shows up. RULES Nations selected by people will be locked to them unless an agreement is made by players to share a nation. If during a session you decide to leave early, we'll continue playing and the AI will take over your nation. If we start a session and you're not there, than the AI will take over your session. DLC I'm hosting with everything worthwhile except for Third Rome. CURRENT YEAR - 1750 NEXT SESSION Thursday 10th sometime around 7PM EST CURRENT WORLD MAP 1700 WORLD MAP 1624 WORLD MAP 1560 WORLD MAP 1496 WORLD MAP NOTABLE EVENTS First Session: Cniper flat out disappeared and threw England into chaos. Second Session: Makros decided to switch off Persia to France to try to stop the Castilian and Savoyard hordes from carving France up. In that initial war, it didn't go in Makros's favor, with the Castilians proving their worth after so many years of fighting Moors and the Savoyards dirty mountain fighting tricks. Makros's French had the last laugh, however. The French waited for a moment of Castilian weakness and then supported Aragon and Naple's claims to freedom. The Castilians quickly folded which to a Castilian dark age. On the other side of Europe, Austria supported Sweden's independence against Denmark. The Danish government quickly collapsed under internal rebel pressure and external forces from Austria, Hungary, and Lithuania. However, Austria and Lithuania soon found each other at odds over the fate of Sweden. Lithuania's King claimed the Swedish crown, but was contested by Austria. The battlelines were drawn, and right as the Austrians finally believed to be gaining group against the Lithuanians, the Ottomans intervened. Austria quickly unconditional surrendered which lead to Austria losing control of the Hungarian crown. Toothpaste was formed! Third Session: We have been joined by glorious ZepOl as Uesugi, Bane returned to guide Korea with a steady hand, and Burden finally arrived to bring the Ottomans to glory. To be frank, this session was rather relaxed except for one major event -- the French Reconquest of Dauphine. Lithuania and Austria spent much of the time slowly building up their power bases -- Lithuania annexed Sweden and managed to establish a Personal Union on Poland. Austria managed to achieve Personal Unions on Hungary, Bohemia and Luneburg. The French, on the other hand, were stewing at the loses of Lyonnais and Dauphine to the Savoyard upstarts. While Sardinia-Piedmont was embroiled in a war with Tlemcen over the right lands of Tunis, the French struck against Sardinia-Piedmont with the stated goal of retaking Dauphine. The French brought in their allies Brandenburg and Great Britain, while Sardinia-Piedmont quickly found itself with only Austrian aide, having been betrayed by Naples and Castile. The war lasted almost 15 years and cost the better part of 2 million French, Savoyard, and Austrian lives. The French made serious gains, but due to missteps and misfortune were unable to hold on for long. The Savoyard and Austrian forces, though outmatched by the French, considerably outnumbered them and the two countries were overall far richer. After suffering significant loses for very few, if any, gains, the French agreed to a cease fire. An uneasy truce now stands between France and Sardinia-Piedmont, and though there is peace for now, the great powers of the world must all wonder when the next great war will strike and plunge them all into chaos. Fourth Session: Great gains were made by all during this session. The French have made several profitable colonies within the new world. Lithuania continued its conquests of Muscovy. Austria finished integrating its many personal unions, allowing it to finally fly its colors on the world stage. Castile established hegemony in South America while Korea establishes its own hegemony in North America. Zep unified the Japanese Daimyos formed the singular nation of Japan, and Malwa finished establishing itself as Hindustan. Lan Xang and Sardinia-Piedmont both succeeded in expanding their nations in their own axial lines. The Ottoman Empire, however, is the only nation that failed to make any gains, and for many good reasons. Malwa, Delhi, and Lan Xang formed a massive South Asian Bloc, unified by their mutual hatred of Bengal. Together, they facilitated the extermination of Bengal and the establishment of Imperial Hindustan and the Grand Republic of Lan Xang. Austria and Brandenburg had several wars and swapped places as Emperors several times. Austria got the better of Brandenburg in the wars, but Brandenburg was able to secure itself as the Emperor. Sardinia-Piedmont finally finished conquering the rest of Southern Italy, and then proceeded to continue journeying southward, conquering Ethiopia and Marehan, taking control of the full African Horn. The Italians might have accomplished more in Eastern Africa, but their fates were strongly linked to those of the Austrians, Ottomans, and Lithuanians. In the late 1620s a period of fighting around the Balkans started that would soon be known as the Balkan Bloodbath. This was kicked off by an Ottoman-Lithuanian Punitive war. The Lithuanians had previously conquered much of Nogai, which angered their friends in the Ottoman Empire. The Lithuanians felt confident in their ability to hold with their Austrian allies. However, the Austrian aid never came -- when the call was sounded the Austrians refused. Without the much needed Austrian manpower, the Lithuanian and Polish forces were overwhelmed and ceded many provinces near the Crimea. The Lithuanians would not quickly forget this Austrian treachery. Shortly after the end of the punitive war, the Ottomans declared upon Austria. Austria was joined by its faithful allies, Sardinia-Piedmont and Castile. This however caused an imbalance as Sardinia-Piedmont and Castile were both Great Powers. Lithuania, still fuming over the Austrian treachery announced that it would intervene on the Ottoman side of the war. With the Castilian troops unable to leave Iberia and the Sardinian and Austrian force exhausted, peace was declared with Austria ceding land to the Ottomans. You would think that the Ottomans might have appreciated the help they received from the Lithuanians, but instead the Ottomans followed their war with a new war against Lithuania. As Lithuania brought in Great Britain as an ally, it allowed for another Great Power imbalance. Sardinia-Piedmont, furious over the Lithuanian's actions in the previous war intervened to help the Ottomans. This war was quickly over as Lithuania ceded more provinces to the Ottomans. A miscalculation by the Sardinians soon found the Ottoman armies rushing to attack them. In the chaos surrounding Lithuania, Sardinia-Piedmont had declared war upon the Ottoman ally Tlemcen, believing that the Ottomans would be too busy to come to their aid. They were not. Thanks to careful management of Sardinia's allies, there was no Great Power imbalance, but that was not enough to deter the Lithuanians who immediately declared their own war against Austria. In response, Sardinia-Piedmont called in its new found allies in India, Malwa, to fight the Ottomans in their rear while Sardinian and Austrian troops focused sole upon the Lithuanian menace. Though the Ottomans were being held at bay and the Lithuanians were having trouble finding purchase in the Carpathian Mountains, the Sardinian and Austrian forces were at a breaking point. Sardinia quickly ended its war with Tlemcen with far less gains than it had hoped to make to relieve the pressure from the Ottomans. The Sardinian and Austrian forces, no longer preoccupied by the Ottoman hordes, were able to push the Lithuanians out of the Carpathians. The war ended with Austria receiving several former Hungarian provinces. For a short few years, peace was known by the Balkan powers, and it seemed that the Balkan Bloodbath was over. However, the Ottoman gaze turned to the Sinai and decided that the desolate desert province belong within the glorious Ottoman Empire. In the few short years between wars, the Ottomans had managed to ally France, and called them into the war. The combatants were Sardinia-Piedmont with its vassal the Papal State and march Tunis, Austria with its Personal Unions Hungary, Bohemia, and Luneberg, Lorraine, Castile with its many colonial nations, and Malwa against the Ottoman Empire, Baluchistan, and France its it colonial nations. Once again, the Great Powers were unbalanced, but Lithuanian still had a truce with Austria and Sardinia-Piedmont from the previous war and as such could not yet intervene. Thus the race to finish the war before the Lithuanians intervened was on. After fierce fighting in Iberia between French and Castilian forces, and more fighting in the Balkans between combined Austrian and Sardinian forces against Ottoman forward units, and even more fighting in Baluchistan from the implacable Malwites, and the pivotal battles for the Sinai itself between the Sardinian and Ottoman forces, the war was ended with a ceasefire mere months before the Lithuanians could intervene. Afterward, the Ottoman ambitions seemed blunted and an uneasy peace finally settled over the Balkans. Fifth Session: The fifth session was cut a bit short as there weren't many world power players who showed up and as such most were apprehensive about declaring large scale wars. Notable events included the French-Italian Imperialist War for Valencia (get out of mah trade node!) the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth forming, and the South East Asian Wars of Independence. Sardinia-Piedmont, nearly after 100 years of the unification of Italy, finally claimed the title of the Empire of Italy for themselves. Afterwards, they quickly declared war upon the French to finish taking control of the Mediterranean and all of the trade within the Genoa node. The Lithuania finished integrating its second Personal Union, Poland, killed Brandenburg, and fought a few minor wars with the Ottomans. Once their gains were secured, they formed the Commonwealth, stretching from the North Sea to the Aral Sea. Austria now stands as the only bastion of hope of the Empire -- forming a alabaster wall between the rest of the Empire and the Commonwealth. Hindustan, Lan Xang, Korea formed a coalition to break the hegemony of Ming China. Italy, obsessed with the Chinese spice trade, sent an expeditionary force to help break down the hegemony to better allow it access to the lucrative far east trade. After two wars and 3 million dead Chinese soldiers, Lan Xang claimed new hegemony within the far east sphere. But with greatest comes great enemies and the Lan Xang ambitions have now caused them to border the Commonwealth.
